About Plant- Highly popular, Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' (Corn Plant) is a strongly upright, evergreen shrub with a stout tan stem topped by a rosette of long, sword-shaped leaves. Narrow and arching, the shiny leaves are striped with golden-yellow down their center. The plant tends to drop its lower leaves, exposing its stem as it ages. Colorful, this succulent shrub is commonly used as a house plant as it tolerates interior conditions very well. It is also listed by NASA as an excellent plant for removing harmful chemicals from the air. Easy to grow, it is a wonderful plant to brighten up the home.
Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' Care
Light- Dracaena fragrans 'Massangeana' can easily grow in partial shade to full sun but care from full afternoon sun, it can burn the leaves.
Soil- Easily grown in organically rich, well-drained soils in part shade. Indoors, grow in loam-based potting compost in full light and shade from hot sun and with moderate humidity.
Water- Keep soils uniformly moist during the growing season, but reduce watering from fall to late winter.
Temperature and Humidity- Drought tolerant. Tolerates a wide range of indoor temperatures, but is best grown in temperatures of 60-75°F (15-24°C).
Fertilizer- Apply a balanced liquid fertilizer monthly from spring to fall.
Propagation- Propagate by semi-hardwood cuttings or leafless stem sections in spring with bottom heat.
